Collegeville Pool and Patio Renovation with Retaining Wall Rebuild

Blue Tree Outdoor Living rebuilt this Collegeville pool area from the structural layers up. Two failing five-foot retaining walls, loose coping, a worn pool surface, and a patio without working drainage defined the renovation. The new work includes rebuilt walls with geogrid, corrected patio elevations, channel drains, large-format Techo-Bloc travertine pavers, lighting, planting, turf, and a gas fire pit area.

Challenge

The visible wear around the pool traced back to larger construction problems. Two five-foot retaining walls were failing. Pool coping had loosened. The patio base and drainage did not support the surrounding surface, and inconsistent step elevations complicated movement through the space.
Repairing one finish would have left the other failures in place. Blue Tree needed to remove the compromised walls and patio, rebuild their base and drainage systems, and coordinate those elevations with the existing pool. The renovation also had to retain enough planting and turf to keep the finished yard from becoming one continuous hardscape surface.

Design Response

Blue Tree organized the plan around the structural work. The retaining walls came first, with new base preparation, drainage, and geogrid reinforcement. The pool scope included replacement of loose coping and a cleaned, refreshed surface.
The patio plan corrected step elevations and introduced channel drains before the new pavers went down. Large-format Techo-Bloc travertine follows a pattern scaled to the pool area. A gas fire pit creates a separate gathering point within the patio. New edging holds mulch at the planting beds, while a turf section breaks up the hardscape.

Build Details

Crews removed both failing retaining walls and rebuilt them from the base. Blue Tree installed drainage behind the walls and placed geogrid within the reinforced sections. The patio removal exposed the existing base and allowed the team to rebuild the walking surface at consistent elevations.
Channel drains now sit within the patio layout. The large-format travertine pavers extend around the refreshed pool and meet the rebuilt steps. Crews removed and replaced loose coping before the surrounding surface reached its finished edge.
The final installation added the fire pit area, landscape lighting, bed edging, plant material, and turf. During construction, the wall base, drainage, geogrid, patio base, and step work remained visible before the finish materials covered those layers. The sequence gives the structural work equal weight with the finished pool area.

Finished Space

The completed Collegeville renovation brings the pool, patio, walls, steps, and drainage into one set of elevations. The rebuilt retaining walls define the yard around the water. Techo-Bloc travertine gives the pool deck a larger visual scale, while channel drains remain part of the paved surface.
The gas fire pit adds a gathering area outside the pool edge. Turf and planting beds interrupt the expanse of pavers, and lighting follows the walls and patio. Blue Tree Outdoor Living completed both the structural reconstruction and the finished outdoor space as parts of the same renovation.
Construction images provide the evidence behind the finished surfaces. They show the wall base, drainage placement, geogrid, exposed patio base, and step work before the travertine covered those layers. The final gallery can pair those views with matching angles of the rebuilt pool area.
