Pool Service and Maintenance in Southeastern Pennsylvania

A pool is only as good as the care behind it. Blue Tree services and maintains pools through Premier Outdoor Services, the same white-glove care you would expect from the company that builds them. Openings, closings, weekly service, and water chemistry, handled by people who know pools. For 43 years, Blue Tree has cared for backyards across Southeastern Pennsylvania.

What Sets Blue Tree's Pool Service Apart

Blue Tree builds custom concrete and fiberglass inground pools, so the team servicing yours actually understands how it is built, how the equipment is plumbed, and how it should run. Pool service through Premier Outdoor Services covers the full season: professional openings and closings, regular cleaning and chemistry, equipment checks, and quick attention when something is off. It is the same company, the same standard, all season. Blue Tree has served homeowners across Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties since 1983 and brings 15 years of pool construction to every pool it cares for.

Our Pool Service Process, Step by Step

From the first visit through the full season, one team keeps your pool ready. Here is how it works.
1

Step 1: Free On-Site Consultation

A Blue Tree team member looks at your pool and equipment, talks through how you use it and how much you want to handle yourself, and recommends the right level of service. The visit is free with no same-day pressure. Timeline: 1 visit, about 45 minutes.
2

Step 2: Custom Plan and Proposal

Based on the pool and your goals, Blue Tree builds a service plan, from a weekly full-service package to opening and closing only, and prices it clearly. You know exactly what is covered before the season starts. Timeline: a few days.
3

Step 3: Scheduled Service

Blue Tree services the pool on schedule: cleaning, chemistry, and equipment checks at each visit, plus the seasonal opening and closing. The same standard every visit, handled by people who know pools. Timeline: through the swim season.
4

Step 4: Ongoing Monitoring

At each visit, the team checks water and equipment, flags anything that needs attention, and keeps you informed. Catching a small issue early is what prevents an expensive repair later. Timeline: ongoing through the season.
5

Step 5: Results and Guarantee

A pool that is clean, balanced, and ready whenever you want to swim, without you thinking about it. Blue Tree stands behind its service and responds quickly when something needs attention. Timeline: all season, every season.

Built for Southeastern Pennsylvania's Pool Season

Our pool season runs roughly spring through fall, bookended by winters cold enough to crack improperly closed plumbing and equipment. Winterizing a pool in Southeastern Pennsylvania means more than covering it: lines are blown down with compressed air, skimmer and return fittings are plugged or filled with antifreeze rated for our temperatures, the pump and filter are drained completely, and the heater is purged. Closing too late, after the first hard frost in late October or early November, risks cracked plumbing that turns a routine closing into an expensive spring repair. Water chemistry at closing matters too. A proper close includes adjusting pH to 7.2 to 7.4, shocking the water with a chlorine treatment, raising alkalinity and calcium hardness to their target ranges, and adding a winter algaecide. Many properties in our region have well water with elevated iron or calcium, which can stain plaster and clog equipment over a winter. Blue Tree's service technicians check for those conditions and treat accordingly. The team services pools with Hayward, Pentair, and Fluidra equipment and has managed pools across Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties since 1983.

Common Questions

Pool opening and closing in Southeastern PA each run $250 to $450, depending on pool size, cover type, and the number of lines that need antifreeze treatment on closing. Weekly service that includes vacuuming, water chemistry testing and adjustment, equipment inspection, and skimmer basket clearing runs $75 to $150 per visit. A full-season service program from opening through closing ranges from $1,800 to $4,500 depending on pool size, bather load, and whether the pool has a salt system, heater, or automatic cover. The free consultation includes a review of the pool's equipment age, current chemistry, and VGB drain cover compliance status.

The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act is a federal law requiring anti-entrapment drain covers in all residential pools. Non-compliant drain covers create a suction entrapment hazard. Blue Tree verifies VGB-compliant drain covers at every pool opening and replaces any cover that is cracked, missing, or does not meet the current standard. This is a non-negotiable safety check on every service visit, not an optional add-on. Pools installed before 2008 are the most likely to have non-compliant covers. Replacement covers cost $25 to $75 per drain. This check is included in Blue Tree's opening service and takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

Southeastern PA pools should maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.6, free chlorine at 1 to 3 ppm, total alkalinity at 80 to 120 ppm, calcium hardness at 200 to 400 ppm, and cyanuric acid at 30 to 50 ppm. Blue Tree also tests phosphates annually and treats pools testing above 300 ppb. SE PA surface runoff from clay soils introduces phosphate through wind-blown debris and rainfall, and elevated phosphate is the primary food source for algae blooms. Hayward and Pentair variable-speed pumps are programmed as part of Blue Tree's service to maximize turnover during peak bather-load hours and reduce chemical demand.

A proper SE PA pool closing requires dropping the water level below the skimmer line, blowing out and capping all plumbing lines, adding winterizing antifreeze to return lines and skimmer plumbing, placing an air pillow under the safety cover to accommodate ice expansion, blowing out solar heating panels if present, and securing a tight winter cover to all deck anchors. Southeastern PA's frost depth reaches 36 inches, and freeze-thaw cycles run October through March. Pools closed with water left in plumbing risk burst PVC lines, cracked filter tanks, and freeze damage at the tile line. Blue Tree also cycles the heater and inspects the salt cell on salt pools before winterizing, because a salt cell failure discovered in spring adds $600 to $1,200 to the opening cost.

Blue Tree services Hayward and Pentair variable-speed pumps, DE filters (backwashed as needed and fully broken down once per season), cartridge filters (cleaned 2 to 4 times per season depending on bather load), heaters (cycling test and heat exchanger inspection), and salt chlorinator cells (inspected for scaling and flow every 6 to 8 weeks). Skimmer baskets are cleared weekly on service routes. DE filter grids are typically replaced every 5 to 7 years on well-maintained SE PA pools. Pump motor seals and impellers on Hayward and Pentair units typically show wear at 8 to 12 years of service. Early detection during weekly service visits avoids mid-season failures.

The most common mistake is allowing cyanuric acid to accumulate unchecked. CYA is the stabilizer found in chlorine pucks and tablets, and it builds up in pools that rely on pucks as their primary sanitation method year after year. Once CYA reaches 80 to 100 ppm or above, free chlorine is effectively rendered inactive even at shock concentrations, which is why many SE PA pools turn green despite regular chlorine addition. The only correction is a partial drain-and-refill to dilute the CYA level, which can cost $200 to $400 in water and labor. Blue Tree tests CYA annually at pool opening and advises on chlorine delivery methods that avoid over-accumulation, including liquid chlorine and saltwater systems.
