What Sets Blue Tree's Pool Lighting Apart

Many pool quotes list a pair of pool lights as a line item near the end. At Blue Tree, the lighting is part of the design from the first sketch. The designer who plans your pool plans where the light falls on the water, how the steps and deep end read at night, and how the glow on a waterfall carries to the patio. Color-changing LED fixtures run on Jandy automation, so the pool, the heater, the pump, and the lighting all answer to one app on your phone. Concrete construction lets Blue Tree set niches and conduit into the shell itself, which keeps the wiring clean and the fixtures placed where the designer wants them. Blue Tree has served Southeastern Pennsylvania homeowners since 1983, carries a 15-year pool construction track record, and staffs 8 or more designers and sales professionals with degrees in landscape architecture and horticulture.

Our Pool Lighting Design & Build Process

Blue Tree designs and wires pool lighting as part of the pool's construction, not as an afterthought. Here is how a lighting plan goes from the first sketch to the night the pool comes on.
1

Step 1: Consultation & Site Walk

Your designer visits the property, walks the yard after picturing it at night, and asks how you plan to use the pool after dark. Is it quiet evenings on the deck, or summer parties that run late? The designer notes the sight lines from the house, the steps and deep end, the water features, and the surrounding hardscape, because each one shapes where light belongs and how bright it should be.
2

Step 2: Lighting Design & 3D Rendering

The designer places the in-pool lights, the lit water features, and the deck and surround lighting in a CAD plan and a 3D rendering, so you see how the backyard reads at night before anything is built. Color scenes, brightness levels, and the balance between the water and the hardscape are set here. Revisions are included, and the proposal that follows itemizes the lighting with transparent pricing.
3

Step 3: Niches, Conduit & Automation

With a concrete pool, the light niches and conduit go into the shell during the build, which keeps the wiring out of sight and the fixtures exactly where the designer placed them. Licensed electricians wire the low-voltage system to the electrical code that governs water, and Blue Tree sets up the Jandy automation so the pool, the lighting, and the equipment run from one app. Township and code requirements are confirmed during the site evaluation.
4

Step 4: Installation

The pool lights and water-feature lighting go in with the pool, not after it. Crews set the fixtures, pull the wiring through the conduit cast into the shell, and tie the deck and surround lighting into the same low-voltage system. Each light and scene is tested before finish work wraps, so the color fades, the dimming, and the schedules all work the way the rendering showed.
5

Step 5: Walkthrough & Ongoing Care

At startup, your designer and the construction manager walk you through the Jandy app: setting scenes, dimming, building schedules, and the winterization steps for the season. Low-voltage lighting and electrical carry 2 years of workmanship coverage, the Jandy automation carries 3 years, and the pool shell carries a lifetime structural warranty. When you want one team handling the pool and the lighting season after season, Premier Outdoor Services picks up where construction ends.

Pool Lighting Options for Every Custom Pool

From a clean pair of color-changing LED lights to a full plan that ties the pool, the water features, and the deck onto one app, Blue Tree builds every option below into the pool itself.

Color-Changing LED Pool Lights

Low-voltage LED fixtures set into the pool shell, with a full color range plus warm and cool white, so the pool shifts from a quiet glow to a party in seconds.

App Control & Automation

Jandy automation puts the lighting, the pump, the heater, and any lit features on one app, with scenes, dimming, and schedules you set from your phone.

Lit Water Features

Waterfalls, sheer descents, and grottos lit from within, so the moving water stays in view after dark and the sound has something to look at.

Step, Bench & Safety Lighting

Light on the steps, benches, and deep end so swimmers can read edges and depth changes at night, built in where it makes the pool safer to use.

Deck & Surround Lighting

Low-voltage lighting on the pool deck, sitting walls, and coping that frames the water and lights the path around the pool without glare across the surface.

Integrated Pool & Landscape Lighting Plan

One designer ties the in-pool lighting to the lighting on the surrounding landscape, so the brightness levels balance and the backyard reads as a single space at night.

Designed for Southeastern
Pennsylvania's Seasons and Evenings

Pool lighting earns its keep in Southeastern Pennsylvania, where the long evenings of summer give way to early dark by fall, and a well-lit pool stays usable into the shoulder season. Blue Tree builds the lighting to live through freeze-thaw winters: low-voltage wiring run through conduit cast into the shell, fixtures rated for the cold, and a winterization routine the designer walks you through. The plan accounts for the sight lines from the house and the way light carries across open lots common around Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties, so the glow reaches the patio without spilling onto a neighbor. Townships set their own rules for pool electrical work, and Blue Tree confirms them during the site evaluation before any wiring goes in.

Complete Your Pool Lighting with the Rest of the Backyard

Custom Pool Design and Construction: The lighting is set into the pool during the build, with niches and conduit cast into the concrete shell, so the fixtures land where the designer planned and the wiring stays out of sight.

Pool Water Features: Waterfalls, sheer descents, and grottos are lit from within as part of the same plan, so the moving water stays in view after dark.

Hardscaping and Pool Decks: ICPI-certified crews build the deck, sitting walls, and coping, and the surround lighting ties into the same low-voltage system that runs the pool.

Landscape Lighting: Lighting for the wider property, the front walk, the trees, and the garden beds, is planned alongside the pool lighting so the whole place reads as one space at night.

Common Questions

Blue Tree prices lighting as part of the overall pool project rather than as a standalone add-on. A custom concrete pool runs $75,000 to $200,000+ depending on size, finish, equipment tier, and the features you choose, and lighting sits inside that range. A pair of color-changing LED pool lights is the modest end; a full plan that lights the pool, the water features, and the surrounding hardscape on one app-controlled system is a larger line. Your itemized proposal prices the lighting on its own line so you can scale it to the budget.

Yes. Blue Tree builds color-changing LED pool lights on Jandy automation, so you set scenes and colors from the Jandy app on your phone. You can dim the pool to a soft white for a quiet evening, run a slow color fade for a party, and put the lights on a schedule that comes on at dusk. The same system controls the pump, heater, and any lit water features, so the whole pool runs from one place.

Low-voltage LED pool lighting is the standard Blue Tree builds, and it is wired by licensed electricians who follow the electrical code that applies to water. Lighting the steps, the deep end, and the path around the pool also makes the space safer to use after dark, so swimmers can see edges and depth changes. Township and code requirements for pool electrical work are confirmed during the site evaluation, and Blue Tree never asks a homeowner to wire pool lighting themselves.

When the same team designs both, yes. Blue Tree plans the in-pool lights, the lit water features, and the lighting on the immediate pool surround as one picture, so the brightness levels balance and nothing glares across the water. Lighting for the wider property, the front walk, the trees, and garden beds, is handled through Blue Tree's landscape lighting work, and the designer ties the two plans together so the backyard reads as one space at night.

It depends on the pool. Blue Tree's lighting work is built into new custom pool design and construction and into pool renovation, where the niches, conduit, and automation can be set during the build. A retrofit on an older pool from another builder is reviewed case by case, because the existing wiring, niches, and equipment pad decide what is possible. The best path is a site evaluation where a designer looks at the pool and explains the options before any work is quoted.

Blue Tree publishes its warranty terms instead of burying them. Low-voltage lighting and the electrical work carry 2 years of workmanship coverage, and the Jandy automation that runs the lighting carries 3 years of workmanship coverage. The pool shell itself carries a lifetime structural warranty. Your proposal names the terms for each component before you sign anything, and the LED fixtures Blue Tree installs carry their own manufacturer warranties.
