What Sets Blue Tree's Water Features Apart

On a Blue Tree pool project, water features are considered during design so the pool, rock work, plumbing runs, lighting, and sight lines can be coordinated as one plan.
  • Concrete construction gives the design team flexibility to integrate grottos, raised spillways, swim-up seating, and slides into the pool structure
  • 8 or more designers and sales professionals on staff
  • 15-year pool construction track record since 2011
  • Lifetime structural warranty on the concrete pool shell for the original homeowner, subject to the written terms

Our Water Feature Design & Build Process

Blue Tree designs and builds water features as part of the pool's construction, not as afterthoughts. Here is how a feature goes from the first sketch to the day the water turns on.
1

Step 1: Consultation & Site Walk

Your designer visits the property, walks the yard, and asks how you plan to use the pool. Do the kids want a slide? Should the sound of falling water reach the patio? The designer notes grade changes, drainage, sight lines from the house, and township setback rules, because each one shapes which water features fit your property.
2

Step 2: Design & 3D Rendering

The designer builds a CAD plan and 3D rendering that places the waterfall, grotto, or sheer descent in context, with the decking and planting around it. You see how the feature looks from the kitchen window before anything is built. Revisions are included, and the proposal that follows itemizes each feature with transparent pricing.
3

Step 3: Engineering & Materials

Rock work, raised walls, grottos, and slides can add structural loads and plumbing runs, and some scopes may affect municipal requirements. During planning, Blue Tree identifies applicable permit, impervious-surface, engineering, and variance needs, coordinates the work included in the approved proposal, and confirms any homeowner or third-party responsibilities. The designer selects stone and finish materials with you based on the design, site conditions, and intended use.
4

Step 4: Construction

When water features are included in the approved pool scope, rough plumbing and structural components are coordinated with the shell construction. The team tests each feature at the relevant construction stages before finish work is completed. Site-restoration work, including final grading and seed, is completed when it is part of the approved scope, with responsibilities reviewed before the final walkthrough.
5

Step 5: Walkthrough & Ongoing Care

At startup, Blue Tree reviews the equipment, pump schedules, automation settings, winterization steps, and warranty terms that apply to the approved project. The written warranty provides lifetime structural coverage on the concrete pool shell for the original homeowner, subject to stated conditions and exclusions. The published warranty matrix also documents applicable plumbing, electrical, tile, coping, veneer, lighting, equipment, and finish terms. Premier Outdoor Services is available for ongoing pool care after construction.

Water Feature Options for Every Custom Pool

From a single sheer descent to a full grotto with a slide, Blue Tree builds every option below into the pool's structure rather than bolting it on afterward. Pair the right feature with lighting for pool water features, then see the full pool design process.

Waterfalls & Cascading Rock

Natural stone waterfalls built into the pool's structure, from a single spillway to multi-tier cascades that bring the sound of moving water to the whole yard.
A stone wall with a built-in waterfall feature pours water into a clear swimming pool, surrounded by lush green trees and outdoor seating.

Sheer Descents & Scuppers

Clean arcs of water from a raised wall for a more architectural look, with adjustable flow and a dramatic effect under evening lighting.

Grottos & Caves

Walk-in rock enclosures with seating tucked behind the falling water. A favorite with kids and the shadiest spot in the yard on a July afternoon.
A curved brown water slide built over rocks leads into a swimming pool, with a small waterfall flowing beneath the slide. Lush green trees and plants surround the pool area.

Pool Slides

Built-in slides set into rock work or a landscaped slope, sized and positioned to match the pool's depth profile.

Swim-Up Bars & Seating

In-pool stools and counters built into the pool wall, with shallow ledges for lounging, so the gathering spot sits in the water instead of beside it.

Integrated Spas & Spillways

Designed for Southeastern
Pennsylvania's Climate and Terrain

Water features in Southeastern Pennsylvania need to be planned for winter conditions. Blue Tree's design process accounts for local conditions:
  • Plumbing layouts that support proper winterization and reduce freeze risk
  • Stone and finishes selected for local freeze-thaw conditions, with maintenance needs reviewed during design
  • Sloped sites evaluated for cascading waterfalls and slides, with grading and drainage planned around the feature
  • Township impervious surface limits and setback requirements reviewed during planning
Blue Tree currently serves Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties. Requirements vary by property, municipality, and scope. The team identifies applicable permitting and engineering needs, coordinates items included in the approved proposal, and confirms any homeowner or third-party responsibilities before construction.

Complete Your Water Features with the Rest of the Backyard

Pool Decks and Patios: ICPI-certified hardscape crews build the pool deck, sitting walls, fire features, and outdoor kitchen as one project with the pool, with slip resistance and heat retention designed in.

Landscape Design and Planting: Planting plans soften the rock work and screen the equipment pad, tying the pool into the rest of the property with material suited to USDA Zones 6b and 7a.

LED Landscape Lighting: Low-voltage LED lighting on waterfalls and sheer descents keeps the water in view after dark, with a 2-year warranty on the system.

Year-Round Care: Premier Outdoor Services handles pool maintenance and seasonal property care, so the team that built the feature is the team that looks after it.

Common Questions

Blue Tree prices water features within the overall pool proposal rather than using a universal add-on price. A custom concrete pool typically falls in the $75,000 to $200,000+ planning range, with the final amount shaped by size, finish, equipment, access, site conditions, and selected features. The proposal identifies the features included in your scope and their pricing, and the team can discuss whether selected work can be phased.

A waterfall or sheer descent adds plumbing and equipment that must be operated and winterized. Blue Tree sizes the equipment during design based on the selected feature and reviews operation and winterization at startup. Premier Outdoor Services is available for homeowners who want ongoing pool maintenance and seasonal service.

Slides, grottos, shallow lounging ledges, and interactive water elements can all support a family-focused design. The right choice depends on the swimmers, available space, desired supervision sight lines, and approved pool layout. Blue Tree reviews those priorities during design and plans each feature around the pool's intended use.

Sometimes. Townships across Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties differ on impervious-surface limits, setbacks, and treatment of raised structures. A large grotto or raised wall may change the calculations or approvals for a specific property. During planning, Blue Tree identifies applicable permit, engineering, impervious-surface, and variance needs, coordinates the items included in the approved proposal, and confirms any homeowner or third-party responsibilities.

The assigned Blue Tree designer coordinates the pool and water-feature design with the relevant construction teams. The approved scope identifies responsibility for excavation, plumbing, concrete, rock work, tile, finish, and other components. Blue Tree brings a 15-year pool construction track record and has served Southeastern Pennsylvania homeowners since 1983.

Blue Tree's written warranty provides lifetime structural coverage on the concrete pool shell for the original homeowner, subject to stated conditions and exclusions. Plumbing, electrical, tile, coping, veneer, and low-voltage lighting each have 2 years of Blue Tree coverage. Jandy and Fluidra pool-equipment workmanship has 3 years of coverage, plus the applicable manufacturer terms. Quality Finish plaster has a 10-year limited warranty, while white plaster has a 1-year limited warranty. The signed proposal and warranty documents identify the terms that apply to your project.
