Fiberglass Inground Pools in Southeastern PA

Blue Tree Outdoor Living builds both fiberglass and concrete inground pools. Most builders only offer one type and tell you it's the best option. We offer both, which means we can tell you which one actually fits your yard, your budget, and your plans.

What Sets Blue Tree's Pool Construction Apart

Most companies that sell fiberglass pools do one thing, drop the shell and hook up the equipment. Blue Tree treats the shell as one piece of a finished backyard. The same degreed designer plans the pool, the deck, the grading, the drainage, and the planting around it, and one team builds all of it.
  • One designer plans the pool and the full yard around it, from first consultation to final walkthrough
  • Factory-molded shell set on an engineered, compacted base, never dropped onto loose fill
  • Backfill, plumbing, and deck coordinated so the shell stays true through Pennsylvania freeze-thaw
  • Jandy equipment and automation standard, the same systems we run on our concrete builds
  • We build both fiberglass and concrete, so the recommendation fits your yard, not our inventory
  • Serving seven counties since 1983 (Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia)

Our Pool Construction Process

From the first site visit to the day the pool fills, one Blue Tree designer manages your project. Here is how a custom concrete pool comes together, step by step.
1

Step 1: Free On-Site Consultation (Timeline: 1 visit, ~90 minutes)

A Blue Tree designer, not a salesperson, walks your property and evaluates slope, soil, drainage, sun exposure, and equipment access. Then the conversation turns to your family: how you want to swim, entertain, and live around the pool, and what budget you are working with. The consultation is free, and nobody pressures you for a same-day decision.
2

Step 2: Custom Design & 3D Renderings (Timeline: 2 to 4 weeks)

Your designer creates a plan for the pool and the space around it: hardscape, landscape, lighting, drainage, and fencing. You review 3D renderings of the complete backyard, with your house and property in frame, and refine the shape, depth, and features on screen. Revisions happen now, before excavation begins, while changes are still easy to make.
3

Step 3: Permitting & Engineering (Timeline: 2 to 8 weeks, varies by township)

Blue Tree handles township building permits, electrical permits, impervious surface calculations, and engineering review in-house. Requirements vary by municipality across Southeastern PA, and some townships take longer than others. Your designer files the applications, coordinates with township officials, and confirms the specific requirements for your property during site evaluation, so construction starts with every approval in place.
4

Step 4: Excavation & Concrete Construction (Timeline: 5 to 8 weeks)

Crews excavate, set steel reinforcement, and rough in plumbing and electrical before the concrete shell goes on, gunite or shotcrete depending on the project. Tile, coping, and plaster finish the interior, and Jandy equipment (pumps, heaters, filtration, and automation) is installed and commissioned. Your designer stays involved and communicates progress through every stage of the build.
5

Step 5: Restoration, Start-Up & Warranty (Timeline: 3 to 5 weeks)

The same team restores the site: final grading, drainage, planting, and any surrounding hardscape, with no second contractor to schedule. After the fill, Blue Tree balances the water chemistry, starts up the equipment, and walks you through operation and care. You leave the walkthrough with warranty terms in writing, including the lifetime structural warranty on the shell.

Inground Pool Styles for Every Property

Concrete construction lets the shape, depth, and features of your pool follow your property and the way your family will use it. These are the styles Southeastern PA homeowners request most.

Designed for Southeastern
Pennsylvania's Soil and Seasons

A fiberglass pool in Southeastern Pennsylvania succeeds or fails on the quality of the site work around the shell.
  • Clay-heavy soils hold water, and a high water table can lift or shift a fiberglass shell when the backfill and dewatering are not engineered for it
  • Freeze-thaw cycles move the ground around the shell every winter, so the backfill and the bond beam under the coping are built to hold it true
  • One-piece shells arrive by truck and set by crane, so lot access, slope, and tree cover decide which sizes and shapes fit your property
  • Township impervious-surface limits and pool-barrier codes apply the same as any inground pool, and Blue Tree handles permitting in-house
Blue Tree has worked these conditions across all seven counties since 1983 and engineers the base, backfill, and drainage for every fiberglass install. Township permits, impervious surface calculations, and engineering review vary by municipality. Specific requirements are confirmed during site evaluation.

Common Questions

Neither pool type is universally better. Fiberglass installs faster (three to six weeks vs. three to six months), costs less in most configurations, requires fewer chemicals, and performs well in Pennsylvania's freeze-thaw climate. Concrete allows fully custom shapes and sizes beyond the 16-foot width limit of fiberglass shells, supports complex water features and vanishing edges, and is the right choice for large or unusually shaped pools. Blue Tree builds both. The right answer depends on your yard, your budget, and what you want to build.

A turnkey fiberglass pool installation in Southeastern PA runs $55,000 to $110,000 or more in 2026, depending on pool size and model, site conditions, excavation complexity, equipment package, and permit costs. That range covers the shell, delivery, excavation, base preparation, plumbing, electrical, and filtration equipment. It does not include patio and surround work, fencing, landscape, water features, or pool house structures. Blue Tree prices the full project scope in the estimate.

Most fiberglass pool installations in Southeastern PA take three to six weeks from excavation to first swim, once permits are issued. The pool shell arrives as a finished one-piece unit and is set by crane in one to two days. Plumbing, electrical, and backfill follow over the next several weeks. Permit timelines vary by township and are the primary variable affecting your start date. Concrete pools, by comparison, typically take three to six months because the shell is built entirely on-site.

Yes, when installed correctly. Fiberglass shells have a degree of flex that allows them to absorb minor ground movement during freeze-thaw cycles without cracking. The more important factor is base preparation: crushed stone backfill around the shell allows groundwater to drain rather than pool and freeze against the shell. Clay-bearing soils common in Southeastern PA require this step without exception. Blue Tree addresses base prep and drainage at every fiberglass installation as a standard part of the build process.

Fiberglass pools require fewer chemicals because the smooth gelcoat surface resists algae adhesion. There is no replastering cycle comparable to concrete, which typically requires resurfacing every 10 to 15 years at a cost of $10,000 to $25,000 or more. Fiberglass gelcoat can oxidize or fade over 15-plus years of use and UV exposure, and osmotic blistering is a real long-term issue that requires professional resurfacing when it occurs, not simple patching. Concrete pools require more brushing and chemical treatment but are straightforward to resurface when the time comes. Neither surface is maintenance-free.

No. Fiberglass pools are manufactured in pre-set mold shapes. Width is typically limited to approximately 16 feet due to shipping constraints. You can choose from a range of freeform, rectangular, and Roman-end configurations, and customize color, tile, lighting, and equipment. If you need a pool wider than 16 feet, a unique geometric shape, a fully custom depth profile, or a vanishing edge design, concrete is the right construction method for your project.

Blue Tree backs its pool installations with a lifetime structural warranty on the pool shell. Additional warranty coverage on the broader project depends on component type: three-year Jandy equipment workmanship, two-year coverage on hardscape and electrical, and one-time plant replacement guarantee on landscape plantings. The full warranty matrix is reviewed in the estimate conversation.
