Our Pool Construction Process

From the first site visit to the day the pool fills, one Blue Tree designer manages your project. Here is how a custom concrete pool comes together, step by step.
1

Step 1: Free On-Site Consultation

A Blue Tree designer visits your property to review access, slope, drainage, sunlight, how you want to use the pool, and the priorities shaping your budget. The consultation gives both sides the context needed to define the right next step.
2

Step 2: Custom Design and 3D Renderings

Your designer plans the pool and surrounding outdoor space as one coordinated project. Depending on scope, that may include hardscape, landscape, lighting, drainage, and fencing. You review 3D renderings and refine the design before construction begins.
3

Step 3: Permitting and Engineering, When Required

Blue Tree identifies the approvals and technical documentation required for the property and project scope. The team coordinates the permit and engineering items included in the proposal and confirms any homeowner responsibilities before work begins.
4

Step 4: Excavation and Pool Construction

The construction team completes excavation, reinforcement, plumbing, electrical work, the pool shell, selected finishes, and specified Jandy equipment according to the approved design. Your project team coordinates the sequence and communicates progress.
5

Step 5: Restoration, Start-Up, and Warranty

The team completes the site restoration included in the agreed scope, prepares the water, starts the equipment, and walks you through operation and care. You receive the applicable warranty terms in writing, including Blue Tree’s lifetime structural warranty on the pool shell.

Inground Pool Styles for Every Property

Blue Tree builds inground pools in both concrete (gunite and shotcrete) and fiberglass. Concrete construction lets the shape, depth, and features of your pool follow your property and the way your family will use it. The styles below are all concrete builds. If you are weighing construction materials first, see our Fiberglass Pool Construction page.

Designed for Southeastern
Pennsylvania's Soil and Seasons

An inground pool design in Southeastern PA should respond to the specific property from the beginning:
  • Seasonal weather can affect material selection, drainage, construction, and winter care
  • Soil and groundwater conditions may influence excavation and site engineering
  • Rock, access, utilities, easements, and grading can shape pool placement and scope
  • Municipal coverage, setback, barrier, electrical, and stormwater requirements vary by property
Blue Tree evaluates those conditions during design and coordinates the approvals included in the project scope. The company has served Southeastern Pennsylvania since 1983, currently serves Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties, and brings a 15-year pool construction track record to each project. Blue Tree's written warranty provides lifetime structural coverage on the concrete pool shell for the original homeowner, subject to stated conditions and exclusions.

Common Questions

A custom inground pool alone typically falls in the $75,000 to $200,000+ range. Complete backyard projects that combine the pool with landscape and hardscape work typically range from $150,000 to $400,000+. Size, finish, equipment, access, site conditions, and surrounding features shape the final proposal.

Timing depends on the pool type, design, permitting, weather, access, inspections, and site conditions. Blue Tree provides a project-specific schedule after evaluating the property and confirming scope. Full backyard projects may take longer because pool, landscape, and hardscape work are coordinated as one plan.

Both methods apply concrete to form a steel-reinforced pool shell. Gunite begins as a dry mix that combines with water at the nozzle, while shotcrete arrives pre-mixed. Blue Tree selects the method around the approved design and construction plan, and every Blue Tree pool shell carries a lifetime structural warranty.

Pool projects commonly require municipal permits and may also involve zoning, setback, barrier, electrical, engineering, or stormwater requirements. The exact approvals depend on the property and applicable authority. Blue Tree coordinates the requirements included in your project scope and confirms any homeowner responsibilities before construction.

Concrete construction supports highly flexible shapes, depths, steps, benches, spas, and other integrated features. Blue Tree designs geometric, freeform, lap, and compact pool concepts around the property, intended use, budget, and applicable site requirements.

Every Blue Tree pool shell carries a lifetime structural warranty. Equipment, finishes, plumbing, electrical work, tile, coping, and other components may carry separate workmanship or manufacturer coverage. Blue Tree provides the applicable terms in writing and reviews them with you before construction and again at the final walkthrough.
