What Sets Blue Tree's Pool Construction Apart

Most pool companies sell the pool from the coping in. The yard around it becomes your problem. Blue Tree builds the other way: a degreed designer plans your pool, patio, landscape, lighting, and drainage as one project, then manages it from the first consultation through the final walkthrough. The company has served Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties since 1983 and brings a 15-year pool construction track record (since 2011) to every build. Construction is led by managers with decades in the pool industry, Jandy equipment comes standard, and every shell carries a lifetime structural warranty. Blue Tree is a custom pool builder serving the seven counties of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Our Pool Construction Process

From the first site visit to the day the pool fills, one Blue Tree designer manages your project. Here is how a custom concrete pool comes together, step by step.
1

Step 1: Free On-Site Consultation (Timeline: 1 visit, ~90 minutes)

A Blue Tree designer, not a salesperson, walks your property and evaluates slope, soil, drainage, sun exposure, and equipment access. Then the conversation turns to your family: how you want to swim, entertain, and live around the pool, and what budget you are working with. The consultation is free, and nobody pressures you for a same-day decision.
2

Step 2: Custom Design & 3D Renderings (Timeline: 2 to 4 weeks)

Your designer creates a plan for the pool and the space around it: hardscape, landscape, lighting, drainage, and fencing. You review 3D renderings of the complete backyard, with your house and property in frame, and refine the shape, depth, and features on screen. Revisions happen now, before excavation begins, while changes are still easy to make.
3

Step 3: Permitting & Engineering (Timeline: 2 to 8 weeks, varies by township)

Blue Tree handles township building permits, electrical permits, impervious surface calculations, and engineering review in-house. Requirements vary by municipality across Southeastern PA, and some townships take longer than others. Your designer files the applications, coordinates with township officials, and confirms the specific requirements for your property during site evaluation, so construction starts with every approval in place.
4

Step 4: Excavation & Concrete Construction (Timeline: 5 to 8 weeks)

Crews excavate, set steel reinforcement, and rough in plumbing and electrical before the concrete shell goes on, gunite or shotcrete depending on the project. Tile, coping, and plaster finish the interior, and Jandy equipment (pumps, heaters, filtration, and automation) is installed and commissioned. Your designer stays involved and communicates progress through every stage of the build.
5

Step 5: Restoration, Start-Up & Warranty (Timeline: 3 to 5 weeks)

The same team restores the site: final grading, drainage, planting, and any surrounding hardscape, with no second contractor to schedule. After the fill, Blue Tree balances the water chemistry, starts up the equipment, and walks you through operation and care. You leave the walkthrough with warranty terms in writing, including the lifetime structural warranty on the shell.

Inground Pool Styles for Every Property

Concrete construction lets the shape, depth, and features of your pool follow your property and the way your family will use it. These are the styles Southeastern PA homeowners request most.
A modern backyard with a rectangular swimming pool, patio seating, umbrellas, potted flowers, a fire pit, and a large tan house in the background under a cloudy sky.

Geometric Pools

Clean rectangles and crisp lines that suit formal landscapes and modern architecture. A strong fit when the pool anchors a larger patio design.
A serene backyard pool with clear blue water, surrounded by stone decking, lounge chairs, an umbrella, and lush green trees in the background. Two in-pool loungers and colorful flowers are also visible.

Freeform Pools

Curved, organic shapes that follow the contours of your yard, often paired with boulder waterfalls, natural stone coping, and lush planting.
A stucco house with white-trimmed windows sits beside a landscaped garden with large rocks, shrubs, and stone steps leading up from a curved poolside patio under a partly cloudy sky.

Lap Pools

Long, narrow designs built for daily exercise. A practical choice for side yards and for swimmers who want fitness steps from the back door.

Plunge Pools

Compact concrete pools sized for smaller properties. Cool off, relax, and entertain without giving up the rest of the yard.
A round stone hot tub with a waterfall feature flows into a blue swimming pool, set in a backyard with a wooden fence and lush green trees in the background.

Integrated Spas

Concrete spas built into the pool design, including raised and spillover configurations, heated for evenings and shoulder seasons.

Water Features & Pool Lighting

Waterfalls, sheer descents, bubblers, and LED pool lighting, all planned into the shell and the design from the start.

Designed for Southeastern
Pennsylvania's Soil and Seasons

Southeastern Pennsylvania puts a pool through dozens of freeze-thaw cycles every winter, so the shell has to be engineered for movement and moisture from day one. Clay-heavy soils across the region hold water, which makes drainage planning part of the design rather than an afterthought. Rock sits close to the surface on many properties, and township impervious surface rules can limit pool size and decking area. Blue Tree has worked these conditions across Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties since 1983, handles permitting in-house, and backs every concrete shell with a lifetime structural warranty.
Construction workers build circular concrete forms on a dirt site surrounded by trees. Blue and orange tarps cover some areas, and gravel is spread within the forms. Tools and materials are scattered nearby.

Complete Your Pool with the Rest of the Backyard

Patios and Pool Decks: Paver patios, natural stone surrounds, sitting walls, and outdoor kitchens designed alongside the pool so materials, grading, and drainage work as one plan.

Landscape Around the Pool: Planting designed for reflected heat and splash, with screening for privacy and four seasons of interest.

LED Landscape Lighting: Path, patio, and accent lighting that keeps the pool area usable and safe after dark.

Pool Service and Seasonal Care: Ongoing pool service through Premier Outdoor Services, handled by the same company that built the pool.

Common Questions

Custom concrete inground pools from Blue Tree range from $75,000 to $200,000 or more for the pool alone (as of 2026). Complete backyard projects that add the patio, landscape, and lighting often run $150,000 to $400,000 or more. Pool size, finishes, water features, equipment selections, site conditions, and township requirements drive the number. Every project starts with a free consultation and an itemized proposal, so you see where every dollar goes before you sign.

Permitting alone runs 8 to 16 weeks in some townships, and active construction takes another 8 to 16 weeks once ground breaks. Weather, site conditions, and the scope of surrounding landscape and hardscape work all affect the schedule. Families who start the design process in fall or winter are positioned to swim the following summer. Your designer manages the timeline and communicates progress at every stage.

Both are methods of applying concrete to form a pool shell. Gunite starts as a dry mix that picks up water at the spray nozzle; shotcrete arrives at the site pre-mixed and wet. Both produce a dense, steel-reinforced shell that can take any shape and stand up to Southeastern Pennsylvania winters. Blue Tree builds with both methods depending on the project, and every shell carries a lifetime structural warranty.

Yes. Municipalities across our service area require building permits for inground pool construction, and most require electrical permits as well. Many townships also enforce impervious surface limits that affect pool size and decking area. Township permits, impervious surface calculations, and engineering review vary by municipality, and specific requirements are confirmed during site evaluation. Blue Tree handles permitting in-house, from filing the applications to coordinating township inspections.

Concrete construction allows nearly any shape. Blue Tree designs geometric pools with clean architectural lines, freeform pools that curve with the property, lap pools for daily swimmers, and compact plunge pools for smaller yards. Integrated spas, benches, and custom steps form into the shell during design. Because every pool is shaped on site, the design follows your property instead of a preset template.

The pool shell carries a lifetime structural warranty. Jandy equipment carries a three-year workmanship warranty, plumbing and electrical two years, tile and coping two years, and Quality Finish plaster a 10-year limited warranty. Blue Tree publishes its warranty terms upfront, before you sign, because the coverage is part of what you are buying. Your designer reviews the full coverage with you at the final walkthrough.
