Outdoor Kitchen Design and Construction in Southeastern Pennsylvania

An outdoor kitchen turns the patio from a place you pass through into the place everyone gathers. Blue Tree designs and builds outdoor kitchens that match the way you cook and entertain, built into the hardscape to last through our winters. For 43 years, our ICPI-certified crews have built outdoor living spaces across Southeastern Pennsylvania.

What Sets Blue Tree's Outdoor Kitchens Apart

Blue Tree designs the outdoor kitchen around the patio and the way the homeowner plans to cook and entertain. The team coordinates structure, counters, appliances, utilities, drainage, storage, lighting, and circulation as one plan, then works with the appropriate licensed trades and local authority when required. Blue Tree builds with exterior-rated materials and has served Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties since 1983. Written by Chad Ochnich, Blue Tree's co-owner and ICPI-certified hardscape lead, and reviewed by Justin Ryen, Production Manager and ICPI-certified hardscape installer.

Our Outdoor Kitchen Process, Step by Step

From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, one team designs and builds your kitchen. Here is how it comes together.
1

Step 1: Free On-Site Consultation

A Blue Tree designer walks your patio or planned space and talks through how you cook and host: grilling, pizza, a full prep kitchen, or a bar for guests. We confirm utilities, layout, and budget. The visit is free with no same-day pressure. Timing: scheduled with the assigned designer.
2

Step 2: Custom Design and 3D Renderings

Your designer plans the kitchen layout, appliances, counters, and seating, then you review 3D renderings of the finished space and refine materials and appliances on screen before construction. Timing: confirmed after the site visit and depends on design scope and revisions.
3

Step 3: Materials, Proposal, and Permitting

Blue Tree specifies the approved appliances, structure, counters, finishes, and surrounding work, then prepares the project proposal. The team coordinates applicable gas, electrical, plumbing, utility, HOA, and municipal reviews with the appropriate licensed trades. Scheduling is confirmed after the system and review path are known.
4

Step 4: Professional Installation

The hardscape team builds the approved structure and surrounding work, while the appropriate licensed trades complete required gas, electrical, or plumbing connections. Counters, finishes, and appliances are installed to the approved plan and manufacturer guidance, then tested before handoff.
5

Step 5: Aftercare & Warranty

Blue Tree tests every appliance and connection, walks you through operation, and reviews appliance and construction warranty terms in writing. Surrounding hardscape, landscape, and lighting can be finished by the same team. Timing: scheduled at project completion.

Built for Southeastern Pennsylvania's Seasons

An outdoor kitchen in Southeastern Pennsylvania has to manage moisture, heat, freeze-thaw exposure, and seasonal storage. Blue Tree matches the structure, counters, finishes, cabinets, fasteners, and appliances to the property's conditions and the manufacturer's exterior-use requirements. Utilities are planned before construction so the hardscape, drainage, gas, electrical, and plumbing work fit one coordinated layout. Connections and inspections are completed by the appropriate licensed trades when required. Permit, utility, setback, HOA, and inspection requirements vary by municipality, property, and scope. Blue Tree confirms the applicable requirements before the kitchen location, appliance package, and construction schedule are finalized.

Common Questions

Outdoor-kitchen pricing depends on size, structure, counters, appliances, utilities, access, drainage, and the surrounding patio or overhead features. Blue Tree's 2026 planning range is $15,000 to $100,000 or more for hardscape projects. The final proposal follows a site evaluation, approved appliance plan, and confirmed scope.

CMU, engineered frame systems, and natural stone assemblies can all work when matched to appliance loads, countertop weight, finish, drainage, utilities, manufacturer specifications, and the site. Blue Tree recommends the structure after reviewing how the kitchen will be used and how the property handles water and seasonal movement. Gas and electrical work is completed by the appropriate licensed trade when required.

Permit, zoning, utility, gas, electrical, plumbing, stormwater, and HOA requirements vary by municipality, property, and scope. Blue Tree identifies the reviews that apply during site evaluation and coordinates the required submissions and licensed trades before construction.

Gas-line material, sizing, routing, shutoffs, permits, testing, and inspection depend on the selected appliances and the code adopted by the applicable municipality. Blue Tree coordinates gas work with the appropriate licensed trade and confirms the approved utility and inspection plan before the kitchen is built.

Outdoor counters, finishes, fasteners, cabinets, and appliances should be rated for the intended exterior use and installed to manufacturer guidance. Blue Tree compares moisture exposure, freeze-thaw conditions, heat, maintenance, appearance, and structural load before recommending materials for the property.

Blue Tree coordinates the layout, hardscape, drainage, appliance plan, utilities, licensed trades, and applicable reviews under one approved project scope. The company has served Southeastern Pennsylvania since 1983, its hardscape team includes ICPI-certified professionals, and average employee tenure is 13 to 14 years. Homeowners have one accountable project team from design through walkthrough and warranty handoff.
