Fire Pits and Fireplaces in Southeastern Pennsylvania

A fire feature is what keeps the backyard in use after the sun goes down and the season turns. Blue Tree designs and builds fire pits and outdoor fireplaces in masonry and stone, built into the patio and the way you gather. For 43 years, our ICPI-certified crews have built outdoor living spaces across Southeastern Pennsylvania.

What Sets Blue Tree's Fire Features Apart

A fire pit kit from a home center is a circle on the lawn. Blue Tree designs the fire feature into the patio and the gathering space around it, then builds it in masonry on a proper base, sized and vented for real use. Gas features are plumbed and built to code; wood-burning features are designed for draft and safety. Seat walls, clearances, and sight lines are planned so the space actually works. Blue Tree builds with Belgard, Techo-Bloc, and natural stone, handles permits and gas in-house, and has built across Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties since 1983.

Our Fire Feature Process, Step by Step

From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, one team designs and builds your fire feature. Here is how it comes together.

Step 1: Free On-Site Consultation

A Blue Tree designer walks your patio or planned space and talks through how you gather around fire: a casual wood pit, a clean gas feature, or a full fireplace. We confirm clearances, gas access, and budget. The visit is free with no same-day pressure. Timeline: 1 visit, about 45 to 60 minutes.

Step 2: Custom Design and 3D Renderings

Your designer places the fire feature for clearances, wind, and sight lines, sizes the seating around it, and you review 3D renderings before construction. Materials and style are refined on screen. Timeline: 1 to 3 weeks.

Step 3: Materials, Proposal, and Permitting

Blue Tree specifies the masonry, stone, and any gas components, prices the project as one itemized proposal, and handles township permits and gas requirements in-house. You approve materials before anything is ordered. Timeline: 2 to 4 weeks, varies by township.

Step 4: Professional Installation

Crews build the feature in masonry on a proper base, plumb and test gas where applicable, and design wood-burning features for safe draft and clearances. Seat walls and surrounding hardscape are built in the same pass. Timeline: 1 to 3 weeks, varies by scope.

Step 5: Aftercare & Warranty

Blue Tree tests the feature, walks you through safe operation, and reviews warranty terms in writing. Surrounding patio, planting, and lighting can be finished by the same team. Timeline: a few days.

Built for Southeastern Pennsylvania's Seasons

A fire feature earns its value in spring and fall, exactly when our evenings turn cool, and it has to survive freeze-thaw winters in between. Blue Tree builds in masonry and stone on a proper base so the feature does not crack or shift, and plumbs gas to code. A well-placed fire feature can add weeks of usable season to a backyard. Blue Tree handles permits and gas across Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties, where it has built since 1983.

Common Questions

A built-in masonry fire pit from Blue Tree typically runs from about $5,000 to $15,000, while a full outdoor fireplace can run $15,000 to $40,000 or more, as of 2026, depending on materials, size, and whether it burns gas or wood. Seat walls and surrounding patio add to the project. Every project starts with a free consultation and an itemized proposal.

It comes down to how you want to use it. Gas is clean and instant, with no smoke, ash, or wood to store, which many homeowners prefer. Wood-burning gives you the crackle, smell, and bigger flame of a real fire. Blue Tree builds both and will help you weigh convenience against the experience for your space.

Often, yes, especially for gas features and full fireplaces, and townships have rules about clearances from structures and property lines. Wood-burning features may have additional local restrictions. Blue Tree confirms the requirements for your property and handles permitting and gas connections in-house.

Usually, yes. Blue Tree can add a fire pit or fireplace to an existing patio, building on a proper footing and running gas where needed with minimal disruption. If the patio base is not adequate to carry a heavy masonry feature, your designer will flag that during the site visit.

Clearances depend on the feature type, the fuel, and local code, and a fireplace against a structure has different requirements than a freestanding pit. Blue Tree designs every fire feature to meet clearance and code requirements, which is part of why the placement is planned during design rather than guessed at on site.
