Pool Design & Construction FAQs

How Do You Choose the Right Pool Builder?

There are a number of factors to consider when choosing a custom pool builder. While pool builders may be in abundance, reputable pool builders may not. Do your due diligence in finding the right pool builder – ask for references, read their reviews online, and meet them in person for a design consultation. Don’t settle. You want to ensure your chosen pool builder adheres to the highest standards of pool building, and by doing your homework, you’re sure to find the right one.

How Much Does a Pool Cost?

The cost of a pool depends on several factors including size, shape, custom features, equipment, and so much more. Don’t always be driven by price alone when choosing a pool builder. When it comes to pool companies, you get what you pay for. A less expensive pool doesn’t always mean you’re getting a good deal. Many non-reputable pool builders sell themselves as affordable but can leave you with serious problems down the road.

Can I Finance a Pool?

Yes. A pool is a big investment, which is why we offer financing options. We work closely with HFS Financial, Viking Capital, and Lyon Financial to ensure our clients can get the pool of their dreams. Learn more about our financing options here.

How Long is the Construction Process?

Predicting an exact timeline for pool construction is difficult because a lot of factors come into play, including weather, inspections, and project complexity. On average, a custom inground pool takes about 8-10 weeks to complete from start to finish.

Why is a Concrete Pool the Best Option?

When it comes to pool construction, concrete pools are the best of the best. These custom poolscapes can be built to any specs, giving you endless possibilities when it comes to design options. Concrete pools are also the longest-lasting. While regular service and maintenance are required to keep your pool water clear and the system running efficiently, concrete pools are built to last. In terms of appearance, customization, durability, repairability, and lifespan, concrete pools will always be the best choice.

What’s the Difference Between Large and Small Pools?

Most people think there’s only one size for a pool – a full-sized pool encompassing your entire backyard. But the reality is lot sizes are shrinking for the average homeowner, leaving many to wonder if a backyard pool is still possible in a smaller space. And the short answer is yes. These smaller pools are often referred to as “spools” or “plunge pools,” and still retain all the novelty and benefits of having a pool in your backyard, without eating up too much overall space.

With their compact size, these pools can provide you with all the benefits of a traditional swimming pool in a fraction of the space. They are perfect for smaller backyards and can also be used for relaxation, exercise, or even therapy. Unlike larger pools, spools, and plunge pools are easier to maintain and require less water, which can save you money on water bills. Additionally, they are still customizable, meaning you can choose the size, shape, and design that best suits your needs and style. Don’t let the size of your backyard deter you from your outdoor living space dream. Spools and plunge pools will allow you to experience the ultimate in relaxation and convenience without compromising on space.

What’s the Difference Between Chlorine and Saltwater Systems?

Chlorine and saltwater pools both have their own pros and cons, so how do you decide which one you want? It really comes down to preference.

Chlorinated pool systems are typically the most common. Pool owners will add chlorine into the pool’s sanitizing system, and the system will need to be tested a few times a week to ensure the water is properly balanced and necessary chemicals added accordingly.

On the other hand, saltwater systems come with a chlorine generator, and the pool-grade salt you add to the system is converted into chlorine. Saltwater pools are known for their softer water quality, lower maintenance needs, less chemical usage, and lower maintenance costs. Keep in mind there is a bigger upfront investment with a saltwater system.

Can I Heat my Pool?

It’s safe to say the weather in Pennsylvania doesn’t always get hot enough to heat your pool to the most desirable temperatures, and that’s why a heater is a good addition to your pool. We offer three different heating options for your pool – natural gas pool heater, a propane pool heater, or a heat pump.

A natural gas pool heater is an efficient and cost-effective way to heat your pool. With its ability to quickly and consistently heat your pool to the desired temperature, a natural gas pool heater can provide you with hours of comfortable swimming even on the coldest days. Natural gas pool heaters are reliable, energy-efficient, and can save you a significant amount of money on your monthly energy bills.

A propane pool heater is an excellent choice that can meet all your needs. With its fast and efficient heating capabilities, a propane pool heater can quickly warm up the water, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable swim even on a cool day. Unlike other types of pool heaters, propane heaters are not dependent on electricity, so you don't have to worry about power outages or high energy bills. Additionally, propane is a clean-burning fuel that produces fewer emissions, making it an environmentally-friendly choice.

A heat pump is an energy-efficient and eco-friendly pool heating option. It uses the natural warmth in the air to heat your pool, making it an environmentally responsible choice. Unlike traditional pool heaters that use electricity or gas, a heat pump can save you up to 80% on your energy bills, making it a cost-effective option in the long run. Heat pumps are also incredibly easy to use and maintain, with minimal moving parts and simple controls that make it a hassle-free option for any pool owner. Additionally, heat pumps can operate at lower temperatures, meaning you can enjoy a warm and inviting pool on cooler days.
